Buenos Dias Familia! Como Estan? Muchas Gracias for the letter. SOunds and looks like you all had an awesome Thanksgiving. All is well in Bernalillo...and the verdict is, Hna Cope and I GET TO STAY TOGETHER another transfer. Which means we get to have NAVIDAD together wohoooo! THis will be one Christmas I will never forget that is for sure. We are one of the few companionships that stayed together. And this is Hna Copes last transfer too. Anyways we were happy to hear that news. Okay well..lots of things to share as usual...but first the story that is most fresh on my mind is our triumph with Fantasma the mouse...this has been going on 3 or so weeks now but okay real quick...so we put peanut butter on the traps twice and this mouse licked it clean both times and managed to drag it too its little whole without setting it off...even with the thinnest layer of peanut butter. No idea HOW becuase we tested it and it sure works....so last night after a conversation with multiple Elders and President himself we were told to harden something solid on it...so we froze a piece of caramel corn with peanut butter to it...and this morning we came back from our run and found the mouse laying in its blood...started screaming and then realized it wasn't dead. Hna Cope was the brave one..and she took it and put it in a bowl of water to put it out of its misery...it was so sad. She was freaking out I was freaking out...oh my gosh and maybe that wasn't the best way to do it but hey we did it...and it is gone. Hopefully there are no MORE!!! Fantasma is spanish for Phantom by the way...haha May Fantasma rest in peace.
On a more important note this week...was yet another of hard work. Man oh man...people just don't get it...and I put myself in there place and think you know I probably wouldn't either if I were working three fast food jobs and trying to take care of my family. That is why we are trying so hard to find the people who are ready. We made a goal this week to have 100 Open Your Mouths...talk to everyone. Since the roads are pretty barren we are most successful with this at walmart. So a few nights this week we just walked around of course picked up a few things to show we were shopping and passed out pass along cards to people. Every single time we went we talked with someone who was struggling with something and was searching for something. In fact one of the people we talked to was like..how did you pick me out...how did you know. The Lord knows where we are and where we are going to be.
Hna Cope and I are taking on a new approach with some of the families we are teaching. The kids are more into it than the parents...becuase the parents are so deeply rooted in the Catholic church. So we are making a BOM reading chart and prizes/dulces are involved. Maybe that will keep them reading and seeing the blessings of the BOM. And I really believe the Kids can be the ones who make the Parents realize how important the Gospel of Jesus Christ is. We also made a Deal or No Deal with an investigator who we are trying to get to come to church. We said we would go to the Catholic church with her if she would come to ours. So right before Sacrament meeting yesterday we went to the Catholic Service and we got some interesting looks and it was so funny because many of the people we've taught were there. This town is like ALL Catholic. So it was all in Spanish and the Padre was talking super fast but I managed to pick up the jist. He was saying a lot of really good things. He was talking about how we should go to the Church we do becuase we feel in our heart it is right not because they sing pretty....he was teaching to center our lives more around God in such a distracting world. As I looked around at the pictures of Jesus on the wall one of them caught our attention. It was a picture of Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist with a sprinkling of water. The Bible states Jesus was baptized by immersion. This was so interesting to me as they believe and center their faith on La Biblia and Jesucristo. What I learned is so many churches in the world teach parts of the turth. Teach the Word of God but much of it is the interpretation of man...and that is the beauty of The Gospel of Jesus Christ is we have the blessing of the BOM to add a witness to clarify what isn't clear...and to know by the power of God what we are to do and how God's Plan works...and everything. Not by the power and interpretation of Man.
I love you all so much. Miss you as expected. Thanks for all your love. Muchas Gracias por todo. Te AMO!
Sus Hermana Holland
