Famillia!
Gracias mucho for the letter. I am glad everyone is doing well on the home front. I love you all and miss you. Connor I am sorry I did not spend an hour responding to your thoughtful note to me, I will try to find some time to respond this week. I only have 30 minutes so I am going to tell you what the week has been like. Thank you so much Paige/Knudsen Family for the CUPCAKES!!! We were so excited. Real food is heaven, whish you could have seen me eat it Paige haha...and Grandma G. Thank you so so so much for the package of healthy treats and cookies. I needed some good snacks and it came at the perfect time to brighten my day:) I love you guys and thanks again you don't know how much I (and mi compineras(SP?) appreciate it!!!)
Flu season has officially hit the MTC. People are dropping like flies. I got a cold which turned into a bad cough this week so they sent me to the clinic which sent me to the urgent care at the health center...they see cough and asthma on the same page and freak out and the next thing you know your sitting in a waiting room with a goofy mask on your face haha...having a conversation with one of those things on is not easy and you feel ridiculous..when you have a missionary tag on IN PROVO people want to talk to you..where you going....etc I am totally fine but they gave me some meds so hopefully ill be feeling better soon. Mi Companion and i looked at it as an opportunity to see the outside world...it was actually quite nice to take a real walk:) So all is well and hopefully I don't get quarentined(sp?) for the flu..seriously they escort you to your room if you get it its a big deal here because it spreads like crazy.
Don't worry Dad I am keeping my sense of humor. With my Companion its impossible not too...she is so funny. And when you take life seriously all day, you sit down to eat and laugh at the dumbest things. I've had some good laughs this week, i don't really know what about and they prob wouldn't be funny to you. Spanish all day makes you crazy...studying all day can make you crazy. But all of it makes you learn so so so much.
Im doing well, we have our moments where you just wonder how in the world your going to be able to do this in Spanish but then you realize it isn't just you. Its a team effort and you can do it if you believe in yourself. So in response to your question Dad about Spanish..its going pretty good. I realized yesterday I was looking at Spanish as an academic subject...and studying it as hard as I could, theyn studying the Gospel. I have to change that and look at it like studying them together, when I study Spanish focus on teaching a lesson in Spanish. Practicing speaking in Spanish any time I can..even if I look stupid..which happens a lot but this is the place for that haha. I understand everything when they talk about it in class but its just not sticking like I want it too because there is so much floating around in my head. My teachers say im fine, so I am listening to that. As long as I stay humble and speak whenever I can i'll be fine. This Tuesday we are having an English fast all day. That will be interesting. There will be lots of silence I assume hahahaha or jajajaja! French is helping in terms of structure, i just don't have any background in vocab which is the frusterating thing when you are trying to speak all the time. So Spanish will come if I just do my best and keep the faith. SYL or HSI en espagnol!
Elder Snow spoke to us this week and had some really good thoughts that made me think. He basically just got up and asked a bunch of questions. It was about choices. Some of his questions were What have you learned from all the choices you've made through your entire life? What did you learn about yourself based on the choices you've made? What have you learned about God from the Choices you've made? and What choices will you make in the coming months, years and days? Its all about choices...so think about that. Choosing becomes becoming.
He also talked about "You can't give permission to do something if you didn't make the rule." If you are asking about a rule God made, Mom or Dad can't answer that. It is between you and Heavenly Father.
One more thought that totally made me think of you Dad, "God didn't send us here to be comfortable. He sent us here to grow. Growing requires effort and stretching, which usually are not comfortable."
Mucho LOVE,
Hermana Holland
