Oh my gosh! This place is so interesting. It has been 4 days and feels like a couple of weeks because we have done so much!!! Thank you so so so much for the DearElders. I was so surprised Mom figured that out, I forgot that even existed. Gracias Pahena, Walton Family, and Mom for the letter it made my day.
Disclaimer: I have this red timer staring me in the face so I am typing so fast and there may be mistakes so disregard... I just have so much I want to say and don't know how to say it!!!
I often look down at my badge and still can't believe I am actually here but to tell you the truth I love it so far...we will see what I am saying after a couple weeks:) Honestly, I was so afraid after what Tamarra told me about being inside a cell all day long, but I am trying so hard to learn espagnol I forget about all the things that could drive you nuts here! Mi Companiara is AWESOME..I don't know how I got so lucky. Hermana Batchkoff is from CA and these few sayings will sum her up...party fowl and holla!! She keeps it real here and honestly is the happiest person i've ever met...which is what I need here. She says Hola to everyone we pass by and now, so do I. I've been so happy. She also is a health freak like me and likes to run and excercise like me. We keep talking about how we are so lucky to have eachother now which probably means we are going to be extremely challenged in the future. We are both going to New Mexico though, so hopefully we will see eachother after the MTC. The food isn't too good. But we make it work. The wraps are pretty awesome, but I'm a food snob so I guess it doesn't say much that I don't like it...Most Elders love it ahaha and also gain some major WEIGHT!
OH Paheenah I met Elder Morell yesterday...ran into him in the halls. Nice guy, he remembered you and your mom! I also have seen Amorrette and some familiar faces I had no idea would be here. It's always a treat to see a familiar face. And letters and packages are like gold so send the love familia:)
It is so weird I am so close to my former life--I look through the trees and see BYU and I feel like I am in a whole other world. Swimming in a sea of white shirts everyday. The Elders are awesome...and I am amazed at how fast people learn the language here. It blows my mind. That is what happens when you do your very best for the Lord...he makes up for the rest. One thing I've learned though is I can't want to learn Espagnol for myself. That won't get me anywhere. I have to learn it for the people I have the opportunity to teach. Walking through the halls everyone is saying Hello and how are you in there own language, it is so so so cool.
We've learned how to pray and bear our testimony en Espagnol. I find myself slipping into French every once in a while but I will get the hang of it. I think I will like Espagnol if I can learn all the vocabulary. Everyone in my class/disctrict has had at least 2 years of Espagnol so I am the underdog...I get the grammar and stuff so we will see. Hermana Batchkoff is picking it up well so she will be a good help.
All I can say guys, is this place is unreal...Everyone is so happy and if you look at what we do all day...STUDY the Gospel and Espagnol many people would wonder why. But I know why. The Spirit here is incredible. The Lord is definitely helping me throught this, because the minute I hugged Mom goodbye and walked through the line of hosts/missionaries I felt completely calm. No tears, no worries...and it helps I've been blessed with awesome roommates:) We definitely get a good laugh in every once in a while. I just can't get over how interesting this place is hahaha..Alex you will get it soon. NObody gets it till they are here that is for sure!!!!
I miss you all so much, but I've already learned so much about myself and the million things I have to learn in just 3 days. El Evangelio is true!!
Te Amo
(I love you)
Hermana Holland
