Feliz Nuevo Ano! Hope you are all having a fun vacation doing whatever you are doing...keeping it from me so I don't get sad haha:) Loved talking to you all on Christmas...Grandma and Grandpa, Paige and Brent thanks so much for coming. Good to hear your voices. Sure did make my Christmas to talk to Family. Never before have I realized, how much Christmas just is about Family Love. Sure missed you all but did my best to share the love of Christmas with the people here...the love of our Savior because that is what it is all about. We just sang our way through the day as I said.
Thank you everyone for all the packages and Christmas Love! Lots of yummy treats:)
Well, it looks as though this week we are going to be doing lots of finding because we've found many of our investigators just aren't committed and are hard to get a hold of. So we've got to find the people who are ready to hear. And be careful to not give up on those who just need time.
But last night I had an interesting experience with an investigator who has talked with missionaries before we found out, but she didn't tell us. We hadn't been able to get a hold of her but we drove by and realized she was home and decided to stop in and just see how she was and what she was thinking. So as soon as we sat down, I knew something had to be different because we'd taught her quite a bit and she just wasn't getting the difference in our message. The idea that she can know which of all the many many churches in the world is the True church. But really she can only know if she puts in the effort. And so the lesson went on and ended really cool. We all knelt in prayer and Amalia, said the prayer and asked with such sincerity to know which of all the churches in the world were the true church. Then after the lesson we just stayed quiet and she was just asking in her heart you could tell...and oh my gosh can the spirit really communicate in silence when someone really is striving to know. But the thing we are trying to communicate to her is that she needs to do the work to read and to pray to receive and answer. We can't just ask for things and expect to get them without putting in the effort. And so the journey continues...Working to get the help of the Members..to find the people who really care...to help them understand what makes the Gospel of Jesus Christ different and so important even when we all have the same God. I find many people just give up with all the confusion and just say, well, there is one God and if I just follow him I will be okay. But how do you follow Him is the question...and I know without a doubt, you follow him by living the Simple principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They don't seem so simple when we try and apply them to our complicated problems but they really are simple and so so so true.
The Gospel is really good news to anyone who will listen. I am just trying to believe that everyone I talk to wants to hear it even when all outside signs point otherwise and they don't answer their doors even when they are obviously there. It boggles my mind every morning when I sit down to do studies and I realize all that I have to learn. It is unbelievable...really. But the Lord doesn't expect us to be perfect right. Just doing our very best. I'll just keep trying to really believe that.
And Mom what you said really stuck with me and helped thank you so much...If we could all only see ourselves as our Heavenly Father sees us. I wish more people in the world would think about that. I wish sometimes I could really see and believe that more. Read Romans 8:16-17 ...We really are all Children of God and came from something so much greater than we even know... and everyone can know that, that is the coolest part!
The dove chocolate promise that carried me through Christmas day from the Chocolates Santa left me in my stocking haha..."Joy is found in the smallest of moments. Like now!" BE HAPPY right now. We have so much to be grateful for.
Well everyone I hope you have a Happy New Years and thanks again for all your Christmas love.
Con todo de mi amor,
Hermana Holland
