Feliz Dia de Gracias!

Hola, what in the world is everyone up to!!?  Feliz Dia de Gracias!!!  Hope all is well on the home front, haven't heard anything this week.

Grandma G Muchas Muchas Gracias for the package OH MY GOSH!  That day I was saying I really just want a good cookie.  Sure enough I arrive home to a package from GRANDMA sure enough with GLADYS cookies.  Saved my life.  Thanks so much.  Grandmas always know.  Love you.

Another week has gone by and I can't believe it! We've been keeping at it, and this week proved to be slightly more successful than the past.  I am coming to realize how incredibly  Catholic these people are and what that really means.  Hna Cope said every area is so different.  In some people are more open, in others they are not.  Catholicism is a family tradition...it is these people's roots and so it is very difficult to convince them to open there minds to a Gospel centered on Jesus Christ with God's true authority.  We had a funny little experience the other night.  These men were out on the street picking stuff up something that had fallen out of their car, and so we pulled over to help.  There toolbox had fallen out all over the street and so we were helping them pick it up.  They were on their way to a prayer/sacrament service at the Lady of Sorrows Catholic church we here about all the time and invited us to come.  We had some other people to try and visit, but said maybe we would come by and also told them who we were..and gave them a card etc....so we went to visit our people but NO ONE was there or would answer the door...seems to be the trend:)  SO we decided minds well go learn about what these people believe.  So we walked in a bit late...not a big meeting so we got some interesting looks seeing as we are two blonde girls with tags on.  But they welcomed us or so it seemed.  The service was interesting.  Very interesting.  A lot of recited.  A lot of Mexican influence in the music...You could feel something but it wasn't the same spirit we've come to know and feel in our church meetings.  It was very different.  And what I realized after going to church yesterday, is the power in sincere personal testimony and talks.  When people get up and share scriptures, doctrine, and their thoughts the spirit can communicate what you need to hear.

Last night we finally were able to teach Nellie the sweetest Catholic lady EVER!  Her daughter in-law happened to be there and she only speaks English.  SHe is from Georgia and was raised in a very Methodist home.  And so she was so so so curious to learn about our church.  And she sure had some difficult questions.  THat girl was schooled in the Bible.  Holy Cow...man I don't even know what I said, but she believed in a lot of the things that we do.  She is very close to God, and was very curious about learning more.  She said to me, I have never had anyone come to me and say their church is the true church on the earth.  I've heard a lot of churches say they are the church that teaches the true doctrines of Christ from the Bible but never this.  So..btw i was on my own on this...Nellie only speaks spanish so Hna Cope taught here the Restoration in Spanish While I sitting right next to her taught Leah in English.  There is a reason for Companions oh my gosh...But overall, I think she understood the message we bring as imperfect of a teacher as I was.  ANd that is the beauty of our Heavenly Father.  He doesn't expect perfection.  He expects us to learn from our mistakes.  For me the battle is eliminating fear.  A hard but important thing to do.

Well, Everyone I hope all is well.  I love you all so much.  And this Thanksgiving week please just think of all of the blessings you've been given because they are many.  The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest blessing we could have. I love you all.  I am so grateful for every one of you.

Enjoy the fried turkey..i'm sure I'll get a little of that myself.  I love you so much.  I send you all my love.

Su Verdad Hermana y Hija,

Raquel o Hermana Holland
