Faith, Patience... and Everything Else in the World

Buenos Dias Familia!  Como han estado?  Estoy bien...Gracias.  Y Muchisimas gracias por la comida...Thank you so so so much for the yummy Trader Joes snacks Mom and Grandma.   Feliz Dia de las Madres!!

So this week was another great week.  And wow, it's already May.  Time sure flies in the world of a missionary.  And I'm sure it is for you all as well.  School is almost out and Alex is almost graduated from High School.  How did that happen?!

Miracles Happen...Once in a while....when you believe.  So this week I recognized something.  The moments where you want to give up most, when you feel the most discouraged...and I keep going and don't give up a miracle always results.  One day this week, there was SO MUCH wind...like Albuquerque wind is unbelievable and there is a lot of dirt so it turns into a dust storm.  Anyways, so this was one of those extremely windy days but it was a HOT wind.  And by the way...imagine crazy winds in a skirt.  Fun.  So all our appointments fell through and we went to this apt complex where a member lives..the number of their apt was wrong, so we decided to knock.  The majority didn't anwer, and the ones that did, didn't want anything to do with us.  It was some pretty concentrated rejection.  But for some reason I just kept thinking...every door is important.  So we kept going.  The last door, an older woman named Wendi answered.  The first thing she said was, "I am proud of you."  I felt a little like Heavenly Father was giving us a little hug..a little push to keep going.  Wendi went on to tell us all her family is Mormon, she knows a lot about the church but has just never felt ready to be baptized.  She wanted this movie we had in our car...she was SO EXCITED to have it.  The Testaments.  Then I felt like I should show her this pitcure about baptism that shows people they don't need to be perfect to enter the door of baptism.  They just need to be willing to change, show it through repentance and after baptism they will receive more help and guidance to become like there Heavenly Father.  She appreciated it and we got her information for the English Missionaries.  We went on to visit some other people.  When we were on our way to dinner we had a voicemail from the English Elders that just 13 minutes after we had talked to Wendi they knocked on her door.  And now Wendi has a baptismal date for May!  Miracles happen.

Okay one of the craziest of all miracles i've seen happened yesterday.  One of the Elders in our district left his backpack on a bus on March 3rd..it had all his scriptures..EVERYTHING.  He had such a good attitude about it.  And kept telling us he just felt like it would turn up.  They searched for a couple days but it was no where to be found.  He didn't lose the Faith.  He told us he just felt like he needed to wait and it would turn up.  So, we all kind of forgot about it.  He bought a new backpack...and I for the most part forgot.  But he didn't lose the faith.  Last night we were leaving an appointment in these apartments which are pretty rough...drug dealing...and Hna Batchkoff was backing me out the parking spot.  This man waved her down and told her to come over...she tapped on the window told me and so I pulled back in the parking spot.  We walked over to him and he asked us if we were mormons.  He had a backpack in his hands...he said this backpack I found by the dumpster over there and it has some Mormon books...maybe its your friends or something.  Immediately I knew whose it was!!!! OH MY GOSH...How in the world.  Wow...still can't believe it.  Just goes to show what happens when you have faith.

If you learn anything as a missionary you learn faith, patience...and everything else in the world. Haha...

Hermana Holland
