{Jose and Oscar} |
Hola Familia! Como estan? Como le fue sus aventuras en Mexico? Todo esta bien aqui...mas que bien. Maravillosa!
Jose who I told you about last week...He is planning to be baptized THIS SATURDAY. MILAGRO. We were planning for him to be baptized in two weeks. After a lesson where we asked him the baptismal interview questions to see where he was at, he said "mas que listo"..I am more than ready. He has changed so much in just one short month. His life of depression living alone in his empty trailor, has become one of pure happiness and miracles. They were going to take his land because he hadn't paid rent. He can't work because he got in an accident and is on disability...so he was really depressed. After fasting and prayer... his lawyer provided him with the money necessary to save his land and his house. Hopefully he can find some sort of work and really turn his life around. The Elders are baptizing a man named Oscar who has been investigating the church forever! After a lesson we taught in church about Baptism...helping him realize he doesn't have to be perfect to be baptized he decided he was ready. So Oscar and Jose will be baptized this Saturday if all goes according to plan. Wow. Can't quite believe it. But the Elders and us have been working so hard...and this is what the branch we are working in needs to see. Lives can change. As bad as they are. As down as you are on life. You can change. But you decide :) I will attach a picture of our two buddies Jose and Oscar. (random fact~Jose makes flowers out of cans so I have like 3 roses made out of beer and soda cans..haha. Funny how the beer cans transitioned into soda cans...as you can see in the picture he made a flower out of the cup from lunch haha. creative.)
We also found a woman who just moved from Cuba 6 months ago. Man they talk fast...and different! But our first lesson with her was so cool. One of those lessons where the spirit communicates we don't. Spanish and unity come effortlessly. This really is the Lord's work. I know that.
Something I am finding difficult at times is helping people overcome their problems. Not letting their problems become a burden to me. The thing is, we can't worry about things we can't change. For those of you who know me, know that I worry about everything haha! So I am working to overcome the worry, the fear...all of the stuff that isn't faith. Recently i've ended up in some situations you could call sticky...and had to listen to the spirit and act out of boldness. I am learning I cannot be afraid what anyone thinks. I have to always always always do what I know is right. And afterward. Not worry about it. Learn from it. So that is my quest. "Be of good cheer and do not fear" as the Book of Mormon says. He has overcome the world.
I read this this morning~ " The reality is if we do everything in our power to do good and bless others there is no need to dwell on the negative things that surround us. By focusing on the blessings and opportunities and continually giving our burdens to the Lord, we gain the power necessary to accomplish all that God has for us to do and to overcome every obstacle. trust the burden to the one who has paid the price. "
And since this week is Easter~Happy Easter! I hope you will all remember, all your Savior has done for you. I have grown closer to Him than I ever thought possible, but I have so far to go to REALLY know Him. I have realized this week, the key to success in our lives and on a mission is learning how to trust or rely totally on the Lord. I like it better in Spanish, La clave de exito en esta vida es para aprender como confiar totalmente en el Senor. To literally give the burden to Him. As I learn how to do this, I try to help other people do it. Because the true teacher is our Savior Jesus Christ.
Happy Easter o Pascua. Remember Friday all your Savior suffered for you. The worst pain you've ever felt. He has felt also. His willingness to do that shows just how much he loves you.
Yo se que tenemos un amoroso salvador que le ama mas que podemos entender. Cuando personas entiende eso, ellos reconocen que hay una manera mas importante para vivir sus vidas. Se que personas pueden cambiar sus vidas. He visto. Estoy agradacida para ver milagros cada dia.
Dos vidas van a cambiar este sabado por lo bueno. Gracias a nuestro Padre Celestial y su ayuda.
This is going to be an awesome weekend. Saturday is the baptism then afterwards Elder Holland is speaking to all the missionaries of this mission. Then its EASTER SUNDAY...and we have a stake meeting for church where Elder Holland and two members of the Seventy will speak to us. Increible. No se como yo tengo tantos bendiciones.
I love you all so much. Glad you are safe. Have a happy Easter week.
Gracias por todo.
Hermana Holland
