Hola Familia,
Como estan todos? I hope you are all happy and well. I don't even know where to begin. Other than maybe, I have never relied on the Lord so much in my entire life. It is true what people say, you don't really know what something is like until you actually experience it. And I've come to realize a Mission is especially like that. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into until you do it. It is one strengthening experience that is for sure.
As for the work here in the lovely town of Bernalillo...well. We are doing everything we can to be creative. We got the go ahead from the doctors to walk and even run a little so it is time to hit the streets again.
Hna Jarman and I have left the wheel chair workouts. I am now running back and forth and she walks/runs. No more show for the neighbors. But its good for her. Got to say, I sure got a good work out. I don't think i've ever been so strong haha....
I am trying to be careful though that we don't start to rely fully on tracting as our primary finding method becuase it is the least effective way, yet it still is important. So Im just trying to figure all that out...visiting members, tracting, service, other creative finding ideas...its pretty easy to become extreme in one method..knocking doors or just visiting members. The balance is the key and that is what we are trying to figure out. :)
Hermana Jarman is a firecracker. She sure looks on the brightside. Im kind of a realist. I need to be more like her haha. So this is good. It really all comes down to faith. There is no such thing as a bad area, just missionaries who lack faith. So I am trying my very best to keep the faith. Easier said than done at times. But it is so true. Life is like 90% mental. And i'm convinced missionary work is 100% mental! So I am on the quest to conquer my mind. Relax and just do what I think is best. Eventhough, I often look back and think man I wish I hadn't done that...we can't beat ourselves up about stuff so much. I am like the queen of that I am sure you all know. So Hermana Jarman is helping me look for the good. Every door. Having the faith that they will open it. But also not letting rejection effect you personally. AND ALWAYS being flexible:)
No wonder it makes me sad when someone who you see someone soley as a loved child of God doesn't want to take the time for Him. I have learned that I have to accept everyone has their agency. But I can effect how I Help them come unto Christ. I have control over that. Not just inviting but helping. So this week we are going to really try and FIND...knock doors but also use some of the leads we've gotten from members, and some other creative ideas i have if the rules permit:) Because really...Bernalillo has been knocked to death. The people the Lord has prepared are out there. We just have to let Him lead us to them. Im not going to lie, we've had a few rough days. But the reality is you always have someone to lift you. And that is enough to keep going. I've been reading some of the Psalms lately and they are really good. Psalm 27 and Psalm 145...who do we have to be afraid of if we have our Heavenly Father on our side.
You should all check out mormon.org. The church is REALLY pushing this website. It is so cool. Tell your friends about it. It is really up to date. Explains every thing really well...and has all these clips about people from all over who are Mormon. They are making these really cool new pass-along cards we give out a lot. People like them. You should order some and give them to your friends.
Well I hope you all know how much I love you. Please remember how important the Gospel is. The Scriptures..your testimonies...everything. We are so blessed to have all that we do. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. It is a bold thing to say especially to someone who has much more life experience than me, but when you've done the work to know, nothing can change your mind and you will always want to do what Heavenly Father wants you to do, even if it is the hard thing.
Muchas Gracias por todos!
Les Quiero Mucho,
Hermana Holland
